Photo by Gabriele Galimberti @gabrielegalimbertiphoto | Orly, 6. Brownsville, Texas. Take a moment and think back to your childhood, the era in your life when the only thing you knew about a bill was that it was a bird’s equivalent of lips, and your day job was to construct fantastical worlds with your favorite toys. In my Toy Stories series, I explore the connection between children and their toys, getting an insight into their tiny worlds and taking you on a trip down memory lane. Toy Stories is the result of a 30-month trip, in which I visited more than 50 countries and took photographs of children and their favorite toys. I would often take part in a child’s games prior to arranging the toys for the photograph. Despite some differences, I found similarities among children living worlds apart. Even in different countries, some children’s toys had the same function; for example, protecting them from dangers and things they feared in the night. Toys haven’t changed all that much since I was a kid. I’d often find the kind of toys I used to have. It was nice to go back to my childhood somehow. | Follow me @gabrielegalimbertiphoto for more photos and stories

Thanks to @theirworldorg - an organization that effective at mobilizing support for marginalized children and youth around the world- I had the opportunity to meet some of the most resilient refugee children and youth and the incredibly dedicated staff of @unicef, @unhcr and local NGOs serving them on the Greek islands and mainland. Their stories touched my heart and refueled my energy. No child should ever have to suffer what they did let alone go without an education - the one thing they know will help them rebuild their futures. I left Greece hopeful that everyone wants to see every child in school but also with a great sense of urgency that every day gone by is a day we miss out on replacing trauma with hope. A report on what’s needed to mobilize action is forthcoming. In the meantime, a few kids on Kos Island made this Christmas card and asked me to share it with you. Keep them in your thoughts over the holidays and hope the year 2020 is kinder to them and all refugees. Where there is education, there is hope. #merrychristmas #holidays #refugees #education #greece #children #youth #NGOs #resilience #future #school #2020 #hope

#FCH2019 #football #футзал #минифутбол #спорт #sport #player #Stadium #мяч #игрок #команда #team #дети #children #kiev #ukraine #tournament #fcbarcelona #стихи #Мир #sun #happy #people #friends #барвиха #баста #концерт

#amoremio #amoredimamma #amorenostro #paroladimamma #amica_mamma #imprevedibilmentemamma #italianmomstyle #mimomapp #mimommag #lavitainunoscatto #mammachepassione #passionemamma #mammaitaliana #mammeitaliane #mammaonline #mammeoggi #thewomoms #momslowcost #mammasuper #supermommy #bests_children #children #lifemoment #momlife

Azaria, at home in #brooklyn, prepares for a stay with her great-grandmother ahead of her #mother Taleisha's shift as a #caregiver at @thenyfoundling's Crisis Nursery, which houses #children whose parents are experiencing an emergency. Kathleen Gerson, a sociologist at @nyuniversity who studies families and work, calls caregiving a “canary in the coal mine” for other socioeconomic challenges in #America. “It’s warning us of not just a care crisis, and a childcare crisis, but a larger crisis of what it means to live a sane and balanced life that allows people both to find dignity in work and also build the strong, stable families that they hope to have,” she says. This project was shot in partnership with @fotografiskany over five months; an exhibition will be on view at the museum in 2020. Read the full report at the link in bio. Stephanie Chang, who teaches 2- and 3-year-olds at Little Star of Broome Street in #manhattan, comforts Louis; Chang doubts she’ll ever be able to afford to have #children of her own. Our modern economy cannot function without a system for the nurturing of our youngest citizens—as of 2017 there were nearly 15 million children under 6 in #america with all available #parents in the workforce. But for everyone except the very wealthy, #childcare is ruinously expensive. In 28 states and the District of Columbia, one year of #infant care, on average, sets parents back as much as a year at a four-year public college, and nationally childcare costs on average between $9,000 and $9,600 annually, according to the advocacy organization Child Care Aware. Many parents spend far more. This project was shot in partnership with @fotografiskany over five months; an exhibition will be on view at the museum in 2020. Read the full report at the link in bio. I like seeing the spark in the eyes of new parents and hear the awe in their voice when they talk about their child. They are full of compassion for their little ones. • The need and the want to raise a child in a safe, just and prosperous world is without a doubt shared by all parents. • I hope parents can be as vigilant about creating that world for all children as they are about protecting their own. • And, I believe it is within reach to shift our perspective so we can be more compassionate about those families we never met but who have no one to turn to for help. • There is a direct relationship with the amount of compassion and hatred in the world. Nurture acts of compassion for the world as you nurture your child so that your child can inherit a safe, just and prosperous world. • Please visit https://tinyurl.com/vpp942m to help now. model: @evavienna_ege scene: @lufthansa airlines #gift #unicef #children #giftideas #compassion #NowIsTheFuture #shotwithiphone #actsofcompassion #InternationalHumanRightsDay2019
