Sadio Mane’s substitution against Chelsea was the result of a knock and dead leg, Jürgen Klopp confirmed. The No.10 was replaced by James Milner in the second half of Liverpool’s 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Asked post-match about Mane’s condition, Klopp said: “It was a knock on the bone, around the knee, and a dead leg – that’s an awful combination. “He tried everything but I think you saw, there was one counter situation when he really tried and I would say on a non-dead-leg day he will get that ball, but no chance and then we say ‘come on, now we have to do it’ and changed. That’s it.” #lfc #ynwa #klopp #mane #sadiomane #livepool #liverpoolfc #WeAreLiverpool #LFCfamily #lfcnews #anfield #thereds #PremierLeague #TheRedPost #CHELIV

A Liverpool win at Chelsea would be an early blow to Manchester City, says Jamie Carragher. "Liverpool lost the league by a point last season and you look at where they slipped up, but they only lost one game," Carragher said on Friday Night Football. "You think of the draws they had and Man City went to a lot of the top teams, the rivals, and won. In years gone by, if you went to a rival and drew, you'd be delighted, but it's not good enough now for the top teams or certainly if you want to go for the title. Liverpool only won at Spurs last season [away to the big six teams] and they have to improve that. Chelsea is the first place for them and it's a big away game. With Liverpool having a five-point lead, it is very early and I don't think it really matters too much. But to go to Chelsea and win, I think that would be a little blow for City. It is very early and there is months to go but when you see your rival going to a tough game and get three points, they'll be thinking 'we've still got to go there and do the same' so it is a big game for both teams obviously. But if Liverpool could get three points there, that's the area they have to improve upon from last season. The start of this season has been good because it feels like 10 years ago when we were playing, where - even though Gary played for one of the top teams - in the first seven or eight games, they might draw a game or lose a game and then they'd kick into gear. That happened every season. With City and Liverpool, especially last season, they just win from day one and it doesn't seem to change. Now though, it is all happening like a normal season and it is only Liverpool really who haven't had that hiccup early on. I still class Liverpool as favourites [on Sunday]. It's a tough game but if you had to pick Chelsea or Liverpool to come out on top in that game, you'd still fancy Liverpool." #lfc #ynwa #klopp #carragher #livepool #liverpoolfc #WeAreLiverpool #LFCfamily #lfcnews #anfield #thereds #PremierLeague #TheRedPost #CHELIV

Jurgen Klopp hailed a “big” win after Liverpool held on at Chelsea to extend their 100% start to the Premier League season. "Very good in moments, in a lot of moments I would say, in periods. Chelsea had their moments, of course, because they are just a good team. Two wonderful goals, a lot of brilliant pressing situations where we won the ball in the perfect space but then we didn't use the ball and that situation well enough; we could have had much [more] chances in these situations. After half-time, two big chances, could have been three and four, but we didn't score so it was clear the game was still open and when Kante scored his wonderful goal then it was clear 'game on, let's go for it'. Chelsea did that, we had to defend it and that's a job to do. It is a difficult place to come, it is a while ago we won here, so it feels big, to be honest. It's a big one." #lfc #ynwa #klopp #JurgenKlopp #livepool #liverpoolfc #WeAreLiverpool #LFCfamily #lfcnews #anfield #thereds #PremierLeague #TheRedPost #CHELIV

Jurgen Klopp has explained Liverpool's rules for penalty taking amid issues with both Chelsea and Manchester United already this season. Fortunately for the Reds there has never been such a squabble with James Milner the designated commander and Mohamed Salah next in the pecking order. Jurgen Klopp was asked about what would happen if neither were on the pitch and how Liverpool would stop a fallout should that be the case. "The rule for us is Milly (James Milner) is the taker," the manager said. "When he is not on the pitch, Mo (Salah) is the taker and so far we have had no situation when both were not on the pitch. We would probably think about it if both were not on the pitch but so far it’s not happened. We have a couple of good (other) takers. Very often if you don’t make a decision, it should normally be the guy who feels the best. The thing is the first one who takes the ball isn’t probably the guy who feels best, that is when the discussion starts." "Never with the first guy with the ball, it always starts with the others around 'do we really feel (he should take it)'. Of course it can happen (arguments), we are all people, but I am not a really big fan." #lfc #ynwa #klopp #jugenklopp #livepool #liverpoolfc #WeAreLiverpool #LFCfamily #lfcnews #anfield #thereds #PremierLeague #TheRedPost #CHELIV
