My tour in UK has officially began!
I've reconnected with a dear friend, Nicola, and we visited around North East of England together.

After so many years of living with autistic loved ones, I still struggle with taking care of myself and even enjoying my birthday.
I haven’t seen Nicola in 26 years, since she was our nanny for a year, when my children were 6 and three. But those were lovely years. Years when the girls were young and full of life and I didn’t know about autism.
Nicola admitted that even then she thought Bianca was different, but learned of her autism only as I did much later.
It was hard celebrating my birthday with Nicola, knowing all of the tragedy our family has endured. And yet, coming to the UK for this conference is about taking my life back too.
When I was raising my children I didn’t know about Asperger Syndrome, so I made many mistakes. I had no idea I was married to a man on the Spectrum either. I hope I can help members learn from my missed opportunities.
And I hope one day I can celebrate family birthdays with a smile and with my daughters.
