Another favourite mug of mine, gotten from the first Starbucks in Seattle. I try my best to not be materialistic, but I’ll always be a sucker for an object with a memory or a story. This way, more than a simple sip of life giving coffee, each drink is a small memory. Cheers to your next great looking work.

Simple Design Method - Double and Half - 5 of 6 ⠀ Double the Whitespace ⠀ "In the printed page the only real things are the paper and the ink; the white spaces play the same part in aiding the eye to take in the meaning of the print as do the black letters." ~ John Burroughs ⠀ Also known as blank or empty space. It can be counter intuitive to improve your work's design by increase the "nothing" around it. But this is exactly what happens. ⠀ By giving text, images, and elements in your design room to breath you'll allow them to demand focus. It helps ensure nothing becomes too cluttered and hard to read, while also helping the flow. ⠀ This goes for the space near the edges, between text and titles, and between all other elements and images. ⠀ It's not a matter of doubling the white space around every element. Rather trying to include double the white space in total to achieve the desired effect. ⠀ . . . #learn #designtips #designhelp #TIPS #presentation #document #powerpoint #digitaldesign #designmatters #learndesign #designthinking #visualdesign #contentmarketingtips #smallbizowner #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing #designtip #designadvice #digitalmarketingtips #creativeprocess #designeducation #basicdesign #designhacks #careerdevelopment #CareerGrowth #careerbuilder #principlesofdesign #buildyourbrand #businesshelp #onlinepresence

Nice small design details can add a really nice touch. Excellent example of a strong contest between the title and copy, as well as colors. A great message on play to boot.

Simple Design Method - Double and Half - 6 of 6 ⠀ Double the Drama ⠀ “It is not enough that we build products that function, that are understandable and usable, we also need to build products that bring joy and excitement, pleasure and fun, and, yes, beauty to people’s lives.” ⠀ This is one to test and see what the results are. ⠀ If you have a photo included in your work, what would happen if it took up a third of the page? Half the page? What would happen if it took up the entire background? ⠀ Though the previous rule only states to double the title size, what if the title took up an entire page? Could the scale of the element double to provide a 'wow' moment within your work? ⠀ In trying to have impact, playing with the scale of your elements can have incredible effects. ⠀ Cheers to your next dramatic design! ⠀ . . . #designtips #designhelp #presentation #document #powerpoint #digitaldesign #designmatters #learndesign #designthinking #visualdesign #contentmarketingtips #smallbizowner #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing #designtip #designadvice #digitalmarketingtips #creativeprocess #designeducation #basicdesign #designhacks #principlesofdesign #buildyourbrand #businesshelp #onlinepresence #learnandgrow #graphicdesigntips #corporatedesign

Fall colors are so stunning it will be hard to do any palette post without them 🍂 ⠀ The free photo comes again from UnSplash, using their excellent search feature. This one in particular was found in a collection currated by a user, these collections being one of UnSplash's nicest features. ⠀ The photo was then uploaded to Canva's excellent Color Palette Generator to give us the color codes to use. ⠀ The colors 🎨: ⠀ Rich Orange ~ DB8C53 Rust ~ A1684D Deep Brown ~ 6B513E Slate Grey ~ B7B0AF Light Grey ~ 15110A ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ Cheers to falling for great colors! ⠀ . . . #colorpalette #fall #madewithcanva #canva #canvalove #brandinginspiration #identitydesign #branddevelopment #visualidentity #learndesign #designmatters #learncolor #learncolors #corporateidentity #visualdesign #brandingdesign #designprinciples #designlessons #designthinking #colorscheme #designtools #canva #unsplash #summerisover #keeplearning #selfgrowth #smtips #buildyourbrand #businesshelp #onlinepresence

Let's break your design out of the box! 📦 (Check out the Tutorial Video here: http://bit.ly/canvabreakbox ) Having an element "break out" of another is a great trick to create visual interest in your work. It subtly subverts expectation and offers a small visual surprise to the viewer. To achieve the affect, all you'll need is: - An image of an object / person without a background (PNG) - A shape to break out of (square is by far the easiest) If you can't find an image to use without a background, there are a couple ways to edit one yourself. First, consider removing the background from your desired photo using a mobile app. Image editing applications on mobile have become very featured packed these past years. There are many great options for free / cheap to consider: - PicsArt - Pixomatic - Exacto - Eraser - Magic Eraser If you prefer to use a computer, you don't need to pay for expensive applications. Paint 3D on Windows has a great featured called "Magic Select" for this purpose. It allows you to outline the object you want and remove the background. On a Mac the built in Preview app allows you to select an area to cut out. You can achieve this with the Instant Alpha Tool, Lasso Tool or Smart Select tool. (ensure the Markup bar is showing). There are also many websites online that will remove the background automatically. Be warned, most do need a paid subscription to download full quality versions. One option that will allow free downloads of reasonable quality is www.remove.bg Now we need to prepare the effect of it breaking out of our shape. It helps to think of the image as if it's in physical space. How would this object "come out of" the shape we're using? The image needs to be cut-off to match some part of the shape. The image is now ready, and it's only a matter of placing it within our desired shape, and positioning it in our design. It may feel like a more advanced design, but as you can see with only a couple steps you can easily achieve it! Cheers to your next "breakout" design! . . . @canva #madewithcanva #learndesign #designmatters #keeplearning #canvalove #virtualassistant #virtualassistants #DIYdesign #visualcontent

An easy design trick to add depth to your work. ⠀ Sometimes when you're looking at your project you'll find you wish it had something "more". Everything is well aligned, but it lacks a certain "polish" or "finish". ⠀ Try this: Fading an element from the foreground to the background: ⠀ - Duplicate a logo / shape you've already used - Blow up the size until it's spilling off the sides - Drop the opacity so it's barely visible - Position it behind everything else ⠀ What this simple process is invoking is repetition and depth. ⠀ Because it's a repetition of an already used element, it immediately feels at home in the design. (This can even strengthen the branding of the work if it's an element from your logo). ⠀ Depth comes from increasing the scale, reducing the opacity, and setting it in the back. Think about looking out towards the horizon, or distant mountains in a painting. The colors are often faded because of the distance. This is the effect we're leaning on to create depth. It takes what is a flat 2d surface and injects an extra dimension to it. ⠀ You'll need to be a bit cautious with this trick. It's easy to go overboard and have readability suffer as a result. So ensure it is very, very subtle and everything in front is easy to read. ⠀ But it's a super simple but effective way to add some visual interest to your design. ⠀ Cheers to your next work with depth! ⠀ . . . #brandingtips #brandstrategy #brandingstrategy #brandingbook #businesstips #businessbranding #designertips #designinspiration #designhacks #designeducation #designtips #DesignThink #designstudy #marketingtips #designwork #BeCreative #designthinking #smallbizowner #visualdesign #contentmarketingtips #digitalmarketingtips #creativeprocess #basicdesign #designhacks #principlesofdesign #buildyourbrand #businesshelp #onlinepresence #graphicdesigntips

I noticed I had only been listening to Podcasts recently. And as much as I adore them, I’ve noticed a boost to creativity when I listen to music. Music positive effects are no secret. But where I find it particularly helpful is in the ideation phase of a design or piece of work. Coupled with a walk or a journal, it’s been a refreshing re-introduction into my workflow. Currently enjoying Robert Glasper, and other jazz / hip hop fusions for creative sparks. Let me know if you have any music suggestions for igniting some creativity. Ever looked at a design and wondered "how did they create that?" The answer to that question can be much simpler than you think! ⠀ This design was created in Canva using simple tricks. They're easy to apply and useful for a variety of different effects you may like to create. ⠀ On the full article I walk through the process step by step, showing you how it can easily be done. ⠀ See the full article here: http://bit.ly/canvacutout ⠀ As a brief walkthrough: ⠀ 1️⃣ Add an image 2️⃣ Add a tranparent gradient square on top of the image 3️⃣ Copy and paste the gradient square exactly on top 4️⃣ Crop the new gradient square so it's smaller but the color flow still matches 5️⃣ Add a shadow image behind the new gradient square 6️⃣ Group the shadow and top gradient square, then adjust the transparency 7️⃣ Add whatever text and logos you like on top! ⠀ And with that the design is complete! ⠀ There are even faster ways to achieve roughly the same effect. Pasting a square without transparency, for example. But these tiny details can be the difference between a good design, and a great design! ⠀ More than that, knowing this type of trick opens up new possibilities to you. It enables a new approach as you come up with a new design for your work. ⠀ Combine a few tricks. Add some nice colors / fonts / images...and suddenly you're creating stunning new pieces. ⠀ Cheers to your next great design, whatever it's "cut-out" for! ⠀ . . . @canva #canvalove #canva #madeincanva #createwithcanva #learndesign #designmatters #newblogger #designityourself #visualcontent #visualcontentmarketing #canvatips #canvatip #creativeentrepreneur #doityourself #virtualassistant #virtualassistants #virtualassistanttraining #contentcreation #freelancelife #virtualassistance #virtualassistantlife #virtualassistantservices #virtualbusiness #workathome #keeplearning #executiveassistant #officemanager #administrativeassistant #youarecreative #creativityeveryday

I hear this quote as a call to action. It's one thing to hire a designer to help make some work look better. But it's a lot more beneficial to think of good design as just good business. ⠀ If you have to output a post or report for a client, would it not be better to have it look wonderful? Wouldn't a well laid out and clear presentation benefit everyone involved? ⠀ Would it not be better if design was not just the design of one, but a mantra of all? ⠀ That's the way I like to think of it, and why I'm so passionate to try and teach design skills for all. ⠀ Because design is just good business. ⠀ Cheers to your well designed business. ⠀ . . . #designquote #workquotes #BeCreative #designquotes #designwork #businessquotes #creative #entrepreneur #design #designmatters #learndesign #designthinking #smallbusinessmarketing #businessideas #visualdesign #contentmarketingtips #smallbizowner #businessadvice #designthoughts #marketing #marketingdigital #marketingideas #businesstips #freelancelife #virtualassistance #virtualassistantlife #virtualassistantservices #virtualbusiness #workathome

Gotta love when something so useful has been under your nose the whole time. ⠀ Ensuring that all the elements in a design align is a sure fire way to turn a good layout into a great one. ⠀ The "snap" feature within PowerPoint and Google Slides is amazing for this. It shows when the left / middle / right side of a element lines up with another element. ⠀ But for the layout as a whole, besides the center, it doesn't help with structure. It also doesn't help place things within thirds or fourths. ⠀ Enter "Gridlines". ⠀ In PowerPoint under "View", check the "Gridlines" checkbox. A visual grid is added on top of the slides to use. (These gridlines don't appear in your output or presentation mode). ⠀ Who says you can't teach an old designer new tricks. ⠀ Cheers to your well aligned work! ⠀ . . . #powerpoint #powerpoints #learndesign #tutorials #designtips #designtools #designhacks #designeducation #BeCreative #designadvice #designtools #googleslides #googleedu #gafe #gsuiteedu #madewithcanva #learndesign #designmatters #keeplearning #canvalove #virtualassistant #virtualassistants #DIYdesign #visualcontent #madewithcanva #creativeprocess #basicdesign #businesshelp

Studies have shown that if you are anxious your creativity diminishes. ⠀ This can be a problem as you attempt to create great looking work. Especially when it comes to using applications you do not feel comfortable with. ⠀ Many applications like Google Slides or Canva come with some very powerful features. Almost endless options to create any layout or idea you have. ⠀ These possibilities, coupled with unfamiliarity with the interfaces, can cause anxiety. Anxiety, that we know, reduces our ability to be creative. ⠀ But fear not! One simple trick can help build confidence, reduce anxiety, and embolden your creativity. ⠀ Create some garbage! ⠀ The path to greater creativity and greater designs lies within some terrible output. What this exercise entails is playing with the software you want to make good design with. Ensuring that you are not trying to make anything look good, just free range exploration. ⠀ Add some text, a gradient, and 15 different images. Create new slides, stretch elements, and play with all the options that come up. ⠀ In doing this you'll be accomplishing many things: - learning settings - practicing techniques - becoming familiar with the "feel" of the software ⠀ All these build your confidence and will help erode away any anxiety you may feel when using the program. Not to mention the creative ideas you may stumble upon when you're not worried about making it "pretty". ⠀ A simple trick to unlock your creativity and reduce anxiety. First make some Garbage, then make your Beautiful Work. ⠀ Cheers to your next great design. ⠀ . . . #madewithcanva #learndesign #designmatters #powerpoint #powerpoints #learndesign #tutorials #designtips #designtools #designhacks #designeducation #BeCreative #designadvice #designtools #googleslides #googleedu #gafe #gsuiteedu #keeplearning #canvalove #virtualassistant #virtualassistants #DIYdesign #visualcontent #madewithcanva #canvalove #virtualassistant #virtualassistants #DIYdesign #visualcontent

A photo you can almost smell and feel. And in our case, extract the beautiful color palette. 🚲 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The bright beautiful orange takes center stage here, with the nice neutrals of the rocks proving some great middle ground, rounded off with the subtle blue from the sky and rocks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The photo comes from of the excellent free photography site UnSplash, and the colors were picked from the image through Canva's palette generator. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your next color palette inspiration can come from anywhere. Icons, when used well, can vastly improve your slide deck. 👌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They do this by: 💎 adding visual interest to your points 📰 relaying contextual information 👀 leading the viewers eye where you want them ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What's more, they do this without a massive design effort and fit withing most slide layouts. It's a simple way to make your slide deck more effective and better looking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some guidelines for using them in your next presentation: - not too many - use to highlight a point - all the same style - not cheesy ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Need to know where to find some free icons for your next piece of work? Check out iconfinder.com and search for what you need (make sure to turn on the free filter). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers to your next great presentation! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #designtips #designhelp #presentation #document #powerpoint #digitaldesign #designmatters #learndesign #designthinking #smallbusinessmarketing #businessideas #contentmarketingtips #smallbizowner #businessadvice #digitalmarketing #businesstips #businessowners #pitchdeck #presentationdesign #presentationtip

A simple way to make better designed and more professional slides? Reuse the same design elements throughout! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes called a motif, once you've found a style you like keep applying it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the example shown here, it's a colored shape with an angled side. You can see how by using that same shape and color throughout it ties everything together. This doesn't have to be boring though, as we can play around with where and how it appears. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Need some ideas for how else you might apply your design element? Search Pinterest and find beautiful examples of slide decks. See how they applied their motif throughout and copy any ideas that suit your content. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The most important part with an application like this is consistency. All the elements and layouts you create need to feel like they come from the same family. If you jumped from slide to slide, each would feel like part of the same deck without looking exactly alike. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some other design element ideas to consider: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - various shapes - patterns - dots, lines, or curves - icons (must be the same style) - large letters ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The options are limitless, and the effect is powerful! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers to your great repeating design! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #presentationskills #presentationdesign #powerpointpresentation #presentationskill #SlideDesign #powerpoint #powerpoints #powerpointdesign #powerpointtemplate #slidedesigner #careerdevelopment #CareerGrowth #careerbuilder #careeradvancement #careerfocus #learndesign #learnandgrow #learneveryday #effectivecommunication #effectiveness #presentationtips #designprogram #graphicdesigntips #graphic_design #graphicinspiration #graphicdesigns #studydesign #designtip #learntodesign

Love this quote from Natasha Jen. You may think that design is a color, a font, or making something pretty. But it's impact and improvement, methods and measurements, experiences and outcomes. Reusing layouts or styles through a slideshow deck can have many great benefits. Like putting up informative guideposts as you walk your viewers through your presentation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You won't be completely unfamiliar with this concept. A popular use of it in slide decks is the title slide. Often different then the rest of the presentation, it calls out a transition to a new topic. As long as each title slide looks the same, the viewer comes to expect the change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To take this to the next level, apply that same reuse of familiar layouts to similar slides. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Imagine that your slideshow deck has a few slides with resources for the audience to try. Rather than new layouts for each you design one strong layout and apply that to them all. Besides making slide creation easier, you are training the audience. Each time they see this layout, they know there is a resource for them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The principle can be applied to any repeating slide type: - Graphs or data - Resources - Quotes - Tips or tricks - Links or further reading - Photos or graphics ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't work harder, work with impact! Sometimes knowing a trick or application can result in the best of both worlds. Easier slide creation and more impact. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers to your repeating design success! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #designtips #DesignThink #designstudy #powerpoint #SlideDesign #pptdesign #careeradvice #workbetter #learndesign #designmatters #designinspirations #designbusiness #businessadvice #designeducation #digitalmarketingtips #smallbusinesstips #designhacks #visualdesign #visualidentity #corporateidentity #powerpointpresentation #layoutdesign #templatedesign #powerpointdesign #marketingdigital #graphicelements

Basic shapes may seem, well...basic, but by playing around with them you can greatly enhance your work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If a layout needs an extra visual punch to command attention, try placing a shape or two behind the content. Try a different color, a different orientation, or anything else your mind comes up with. Allow yourself to play around until you stumble upon a visual that grabs attention. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To begin with, try adding a shape with a nice color behind your title. Try it in two configurations: where the title fits inside the shape, and another where the words break out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's a simple approach, but the effect can outweigh the effort. A few small touches can result in a much stronger and polished layout. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers to your next design taking shape! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #designtips #designtip #designadvice #digitalmarketingtips #creativeprocess #designhelp #designeducation #basicdesign #designhacks #visualdesign #smallbiztips #smallbusinessideas #careerdevelopment #CareerGrowth #careerbuilder #corporatelife #corporateidentity #principlesofdesign #contentdesign #businessmind #businesstip #businessmarketing #businessadvice

Finally got around to hanging some art and photos in the office. (Extra points to anyone who recognizes some of the work) Seeing how people like to have nice layouts and decorations in their homes reaffirms to me everyone’s ability to learn some design. Functionally there is nothing to a particular picture or throw pillow or layout, and yet everyone can recognize and appreciate when their in a nicely designed space. Further, you’ll feel comforted and even energized if the space is really well put together. This ability to resonate and benefit from a well designed space shows: - you can sense good design - it impacts you Imagine learning some basic frameworks and tricks to be able to place your target in a “comfortable room” next time you want to get a message across? I had the honor of working with It's Sean MC ( @itsseanmc ) in a design session to try and improve his logo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sean and his brand are multi-talented, touching upon freelancing, DJing, footwear, and more. He wanted to see if we could improve the visuals to be stronger and more original. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A signature in a logo is always fun to work with. Right off the bat it's intimate, personal, and always unique. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the original it was a bit flat and even, so the first task was to tighten up the spacing so it would feel less spread out. That done, I felt it needed some more drama, so I increased the first letters and played with the positions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It still felt a bit too "loose", where it would not stand out as a logo if place among others. In looking at some inspiration that Sean had pointed to I saw many squares and lines. So, I added a box around the entire logo to help "set" it more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What worked best, though, was to have the letter breaking out of the box. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Much like Sean's aspirations would not be boxed in, neither would be his logo as it broke outside of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Big thank you to @itsseanmc for working with me, check out his profile for his amazing work! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Would you like a free design session? The worst part of saying "I can't design"? - It's self fulfilling! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To think that you can't is to not have to try. When you don't try, you don't have to create the terrible, bad, and no good designs that may happen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But those awful designs are where you get better! To this day, as a professional designer, I create some terrible designs at first. But I get them out of the way, work through the ideas, then apply knowledge and tactics to make it better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The best news of that? The same knowledge and tactics are availble to you! You just need to try (and create a few terrible designs along the way 😉). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers to you terrible designs leading to amazing ones! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #BeCreative #creativity #workquotes #working #designquotes #designwork #businessquotes #learn #creative #entrepreneur #design #designquote #designmatters #learndesign #designthinking #smallbusinessmarketing #businessideas #visualdesign #contentmarketingtips #smallbizowner #businessadvice #designthoughts #marketing #marketingdigital #marketingideas

Asking whether a design is "good" or not can sound subjective, but there is a lot that is quantifiable. ⠀ You know your target, and you know what you want to say to them. There are online tools that will tell you if one font works with another. And even more tools to tell you colors that work together. Match that with some honesty and some questions, you can determine if a design is good and what you can improve. ⠀ The following is a quick process you can go through to ensure your output looks and works great. ⠀ Review Sounds simple, but this is a review on the design only. Here you ask questions from the viewers perspective to make sure you've hit the mark. ⠀ - is the message / action clear? What are you trying to show the viewer or get them to do? - will it appeal to my target? Is the messaging and visuals right for the audience? - did I use colors and fonts that work? Were they chosen purposefully and with the help of tools? - is it high quality Are the images clear, the text legible, the colors and elements appropriate ⠀ Compare A great way to know if you're close to a good design is to compare it to other great designs. Look at what your competitors are outputting and see if yours looks as good. If not, what elements and techniques are they using that you can try? What are other designs in the same space (ads, banners etc.) doing that you can emulate? If you put yours beside these others, would it look out of place among them quality wise? ⠀ Ask Someone The scariest of the methods, asking for feedback can give you some of the best perspectives. When putting together our work we can get a certain tunnel vision. We're no longer seeing the obvious issues with what we're doing. An outside opinion can see the work with fresh eyes and identify easy fixes that you would never notice. ⠀ By creating more work and exposing yourself to great design, your taste will improve. You'll be able to identify if something looks good and will achieve it's goal. But even when you get to that point, a piece of work can always improve with an honest assessment. Step back, review, compare, ask, and watch your results get better. ⠀ Cheers to you next well reviewed work!

This hack to be more creative involves coming up with 100 ideas. Literally. 100 ideas to solve 1 single problem. ⠀ Why so many? Well, it comes down to how we often approach coming up with solutions to a problem. ⠀ The brain by nature can be a bit lazy. When coming up with a solution, we tend to lean to the well known and safe. Ideas that have worked for us in the past, that always prove to be true. ⠀ While these types of ideas may be safe and reliable, they aren't the most creative. Coming up with 100 ideas for a problem exhausts what we already know and forces us to go into unknown territory. It causes us to forgo perfection, convention, fear of being "silly". ⠀ For example, if we tried to come up with a campaign to sell a toothbrush. ⠀ Our first 10-20 ideas likely are very conventional. Run an ad on social media, get a celebrity endorsement and so on. ⠀ 20-40 we likely dip into some cliches or borrowed ideas. ⠀ By 50...80...it's is going to become harder to imagine anything new. So, we begin going far out of our usual way of thinking and into some ideas that are very.....creative! ⠀ What's most interesting about this space, though, is that ideas this far out may hold some real value. ⠀ In our toothbrush scenario, we could say: "Let's tape a toothbrush to an elephant and set it loose on the savanah!" ⠀ On the surface this seems ludicrous...but what happens if we play with it? What if an elephant was the spokesperson? Tor every sale we'll contribute to an anti-poaching organization? ⠀ From a far out idea we've stumbled upon an interesting (and more importantly) creative idea. ⠀ Do this exercise a few times and you may find yourself jumping into that far out creative space easier. You'll have seen the benefits of having outlandish ideas and be more able to dip into that creative space. ⠀ It'll come as natural as an elephant brushing his teeth. ⠀ Cheers to your next creative idea. ⠀ I have a new free course on creativity releasing soon, a quick one designed to turn someone into an idea machine! Stay tuned for its release! (DM me if you’d like early access to try it out and improve it). Cheers to your next great design!

"Colors must fit together as pieces in a puzzle or cogs in a wheel." ~ Hans Hofmann Half the Colors: Choosing colors and applying them well can be a difficult part of design. To make the process simpler and to make the colors more impactful, strive to have no more than 2 to 3 colors in your work. With this we are talking colors though, not including dark grays, blacks, and white etc. You can also consider tints and shades by adding black or white to your chosen colors. This can provide more options without straying from the few core colors. Want to find some stunning color palettes for use with your work? The following sites feature submitted and popular palettes to try: ⠀ ColorHunt.co Coolors.co/browser ColourLovers.com ⠀ Stay tuned for part 3 tomorrow! ⠀ Cheers to your next Doubled & Halved work!

Aeropress - amazing coffee from an amazing design. This particular unit has travelled with me to over 10 countries, and to this day still produces some delicious coffee. There really is something marvellous about a design that is boiled down to such simplicity yet delivers exceptional output. A feat we can strive for in our own work (fueled by a couple cups from the Aeropress of course 😉) . . . #butfirstcoffee #aeropress #aeropresscoffee #coffeemaker #coffee_time #productdesign #coffeecoffeecoffee #coffeedesign

Simple Design Method - Double and Half - 3 of 6 ⠀ Half the Content ⠀ “Here’s everything you need to know about creating killer content in 3 simple words: Clear. Concise. Compelling.” ~ Demian Farnworth ⠀ This will be the most difficult to achieve. We have a tenancy to want to include as much information as we can in our work. What about this promotion? What about these other features? ⠀ Picture holding 6 balls in your hands and throwing them at someone. It's hard to imagine them catching even 1, let alone all 6. Now, picture winding up and softly throwing only 1 ball at a person: chances are they'll catch that. ⠀ This is how to picture your content. You need to narrow it down and only focus on what is necessary and impactful. Reducing the information clutter will have the same great impact as the rest of the steps, if not more so. ⠀ Ideas to reduce the content: - Combine ideas to reduce verbiage - Use images / icons to convey meaning - Can you say with a word what you said in a sentence? ⠀ If you want to try to convey some meaning with images and icons, here are some great sites for free resources: ⠀ Great sites for free images & icons: ⠀ UnSplash.com Pixabay.com IconFinder.com Icons8.com ⠀ Stay tuned for part 4 tomorrow! ⠀ Cheers to your clean and consise work! ⠀ #contentmarketing #contentmarketingstrategy #contentwriting #designtips #designtip #designadvice #digitalmarketingtips #creativeprocess #designhelp #designeducation #basicdesign #designhacks #visualdesign #smallbiztips #smallbusinessideas #careerdevelopment #CareerGrowth #careerbuilder #corporatelife #corporateidentity #principlesofdesign #contentdesign #businessmind #businesstip #businessmarketing #keeplearning #marketingtip #marketingideas
