I’ve got something personal to share.... We waited to have sex with each other until our wedding day. Did we struggle? Absolutely. Did we give in to temptation (even in lusting in our hearts)? Yes. Was our courtship spotless? Very far from it.
But God is full of grace... for those having sex and for those who aren’t.
My husband was worth the wait and Christ is worth my obedience. I’m glad that God gave me the strength to wait until marriage.
If you’re abstaining and deciding to save yourself for your spouse, God is FAITHFUL to keep you. It’s not too late and you’re not too far gone to submit your sexuality to Him. His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9), and it isn’t about what you deserve. Rest in His promises even when temptation is great. Remind yourself of the value Jesus places in you. The wait isn’t easy, but with your mind of Christ, it gets better. He will sustain!

There is no couple that is “relationship goals” to us. We have some inspiration for sure (I’ll tag some of them in case you want to follow) but we don’t look to any couple aspiring to become just like them. We sure did in the past though. God broke that down and showed us that His love for the Church is the greatest

There is no couple that is “relationship goals” to us. We have some inspiration for sure (I’ll tag some of them in case you want to follow) but we don’t look to any couple aspiring to become just like them. We sure did in the past though. God broke that down and showed us that His love for the Church is the greatest #relationshipgoal we could aspire to. We didn’t need to become another couple, we needed to be like Christ. We didn’t need to emulate another set of people, we needed to read our Bible. I’m not just learning to submit by looking at other wives, I’m looking to how the Church is meant to submit to Jesus. My husband isn’t just learning to lead by looking at other husbands, he’s modeling how Christ loves and leads His bride, the Church. The only perfect lover is Jesus, who else can compare? I hope we never become anyone’s relationship goals. We’re flawed. We fall short. But we just want to look like our Savior. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-11 Let this be our goal.

If I’d accepted this in high school, I would’ve avoided a lot of hurt. You are not sufficient to change someone’s heart— only Christ is.

This woman didn’t speak English, so I shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her in Spanish. When I led her through the prayer of salvation, she said, “So that’s it?” (in Spanish). Sometimes we make salvation far more complicated than it needs to be. But we are saved by grace through faith. After that, we live in holiness out of love for Jesus. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Go out and share the Gospel with someone, and invite them to make their confession and believe in their heart! Then disciple them and pray that they’re filled with the Holy Ghost!
La salvación no es complicado!

This picture is blurry because I was busy praying but noticed how my husband got on his knees before God without hesitation. He didn’t know I took this picture, he was too busy crying out to God. This is his heart posture, and this is why I love him. He loves Jesus purely, withholding nothing. I can submit to him with full faith because I know he’s submitted to Christ.

Marriage is such a wonderful demonstration of God’s love for us, His bride. The way my husband pushes me to grow, comforts me, and protects me is amazing, but it doesn’t come close to what Jesus does for me. I thank God I get to experience both of these loves.

It’s rare to have people who are close friends and also spiritual leaders in your life. These two have corrected, given my husband and I rides when we had no car, and laughed with us. They performed our wedding but still had fun with us the night before. We honor you two for being pastors, friends, and family to us. Pastor Carmen and Pastor Don, we love you dearly!

Joy down deep in my soul 🎀

We were just kids when we fell in love 💕💍 SWIPE ➡️ to see us through the years

This video was taken on my 18th birthday, the day I finally admitted I liked @t_hicksnelson after months of denying it. People always teased us and said we’d make a cute couple. Once a stranger came up to us on the street and said we looked like we’d get married one day because we looked like we could be one. I was so stubborn 😂. This Luther Vandross in the background sealed the deal lol! Our friends showed us the video and pointed out how I looked at him and I had to admit he was more than a friend to me. We still sing love songs to each other. I still can’t take my eyes off of him. From freshman year as “friends” to senior year as husband and wife... God is good. There’s something about that Howard love. Drew Hall days ❤️💙

I’ve known Tyler since we were 17, and the man I’ve seen him grow into has far surpassed anyone I imagined. I’ve seen him in the deepest of valleys, and I’ve seen him on the tallest peaks. I’ve seen the love of Jesus transform him from a boy into a man after His own heart. I count it a privilege to be part of the journey. That’s the amazing thing about loving someone— you sign up for the ride. And while it won’t be perfect, life with this man is worth every valley. I’m so ready.

Marriage is wonderful, but it isn’t the “end goal” in your walk with Jesus. We (the church) spend so much time trying to be wives that we’ve neglected being Christ’s bride. I’ve seen so many conferences and books about preparing for Boaz, but not preparing for Christ’s return! We need to love Jesus and the things of Him FIRST.

Some of you won’t like this one... but I know that the wages of sin (racism, fornication, pride, hate, selfishness, lying, stealing, etc.) is death. Because of MY sin, I should be hell bound. But because of Jesus, I’m not. His forgiveness, His CRAZY love, His embrace of the one who hurt Him (humanity) is the reason I’m heaven bound instead. It’s the reason we all have the opportunity to go to heaven, no matter what we’ve done. For God so loved this messed up world and all the messed up people in it, that He sent His Son, an innocent man of color, that whoever (pause... anyone) believes in Him wouldn’t die, but have everlasting life. It is my prayer that Amber Guyger accepts Jesus as her Lord and Savior, repents for her sins, and goes to heaven. I believe she’ll be able to tell the man she murdered about the unfair, amazing, relentless, and supernatural love of Jesus.

I remember the day I heard God tell me that Tyler would be my husband. I didn’t tell him, we weren’t even dating yet, but I had a strong confidence in our future together. We went through things, we broke up, and I wondered if I’d actually heard the Lord correctly. August 3, 2019 will forever remind me that Jesus doesn’t go back on His promises. He doesn’t bend when we doubt. He’s God. I know everyone’s story isn’t ours. I was blessed to know he’d be my husband before he was. But whatever it is, if God said it, He meant it. Jesus is faithful to complete what He’s started. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and let Him complete what He said He’d do in your life. 💍

This first month of marriage has taught me a lot about selflessness, apologizing first, and patience. I’ve learned that laughter truly is the best medicine and to never go to sleep upset. I’ve learned to enjoy every moment, no matter where we are. Thank you for continuously being my best friend and an answered prayer. I love you forever.

STOP FIGHTING GOD ABOUT WHO YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE. YOU ALREADY LOST.
Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' or 'Your work has no handles'?
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45:9‬
This is for someone who has been wrestling with God about their purpose. This is for me. Who are we to tell God how we should’ve been made— how we should look or how we should speak? Moses told God the impediment he had and God reminded him who exactly He is. Jesus made you, by hand, intentionally. And He knew you’d be too quiet, or shy, or too loud, or have a sketchy past, or too awkward. God knew you’d look to others and wonder why you don’t preach like they do. He knew you’d struggle with addiction. He knew you’d feel judged because of your past. And He still made you, lovingly. Count it joy that He knows you intimately and still calls you beloved, a royal priesthood, and His child. If people knew me how deeply God does— every thought, sin, insecurity, and mistake, they may not love me. But He knows the depths of my heart and loves me the same, and He loves you that way too. And He made you on purpose, child of God. He formed you to give Him glory, in spite of how unqualified you feel for it. So stop fighting Him on it, He’s already won.
