Happy Birthday to Salvador Dali! Did you know this master of Surrealism believed he was a reincarnation of his deceased brother? In fact, both his father and brother were also named Salvador, and his brother passed away just nine months before the Salvador Dali we know today was born. He was also expelled from art school not once, but twice! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dali was a prominent member of the Surrealist movement that began in the 1920s, a group fascinated with the Freudian workings of the unconscious. Dali came up with many methods in order to access his unconscious, one of which included starring at an inanimate object for so long that it began to transform, creating a natural hallucination. We love Dali because he pushed the boundaries of our minds!

Happy Birthday to the legendary Frida Kahlo. An unapologetic trailblazer, that has transcended art. Her spirit lives on more than words can express. — Having experienced a surreal accident at a young age, Frida was a ruthless painter who never shied away from the reality of her world. The pain she experienced was the inspiration behind her work famously stating, “At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.” She developed a habit to paint a portrait of herself whenever she was troubled, a method that led her to create 55 self-portraits that became her most recognizable works. — Today we are feeling the power of her spirit and the weight of her legacy. #hbd #fridakahlo
Over the past decade, Jordan Wolfson has become known for his thought-provoking works in a wide range of media, including video, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance. He pulls intuitively from the world of advertising, the Internet, and technology industries to produce ambitious and enigmatic narratives. However, instead of simply appropriating found material, the artist creates his own unique content, which frequently revolves around a series of invented, animated characters. Wolfson was born in 1980 in New York. In 2003, he received his B.F.A. in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Flashback to our 2 favorite art installations from the artist! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Comment your first impression below! . . . @836m_art @jordanmatthewwolfson #jordanwolfson #artinstallation #thoughtprovokingart #836m #836m_art #artexhibition #artgallery #scaryart #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist #femalefigure #robot #roboticsculpture @klausbiesenbach @ameliaguoguo
